DirectSound Distractor is an application that is used to force the loss of DirectSound buffers.
You can use DirectSound Distractor to debug your Buffer-Loss Handling code. DirectSound Distractor will do this by initializing DirectSound with DSSCL_WRITEPRIMARY cooperative level. If the initialization process completed successfully, all current applications playing DirectSound Buffers will lose them until DirectSound Distractor releases its DirectSound object and the relevant applications restore their buffers explicitly.
With this application, sound developers can force their engines to lose their buffers, so they can test the engine's buffer loss/restoration code and debug it properly.
